The site is located in the village of Christleton approximately 3.2km south east of the historic city centre of Chester. Located on the southern fringe of Christleton village the irregular shaped site totals 6.487 acres/2.625 hectares. The masterplan proposes a development totalling 14,657sq.m/157,776sq.ft floor space comprising; 9,282sq.m/99,917sq.ft residential floor space and 5,375sq.m/57,858sq.ft communal space and provides 123 no. 2 bedroom extra care living units/suites for the frail and elderly, and 38 no. 1 and 2 bedroom suites forming the Registered EMI Memory Support Unit (dementia). This diverse range of Extra Care living units and suites have been designed to meet the housing and support needs of older people over 60 and offers an independent lifestyle within a village community. Residents will have access to meals, domestic help, leisure and recreation facilities, personal care when necessary and 24/7 security to create a generally safe environment. The development provides a central 'hub' building (CHB) which provides accommodation to meet the needs of residents and is located so that it can be easily accessible, whilst creating a focus for the development and provide facilities such as: Gym, Hair and Beauty salon, Shop, library, IT suite, dance studio, cinema, craft rooms, Dining/Bistro area and Satellite doctor's surgery. The strategy of building placement has been centred around the creation of distinctive landscaped and open spaces each with their own identifiable character.
